Osun State Government bans large gatherings to curb Coronavirus spread

The Osun State government has joined the Lagos state government in the banning of large gatherings in churches, mosques, clubs, etc.

Gboyega Oyetola, the governor of Osun state ordered the closure of all churches, mosques including schools in order to minimize the spread of the COVID 19. This ban was implemented because of the reported cases of the COVID 19 virus in neighbouring states.

According to Ismail Omipidan, the spokesperson of the governor of Osun state said that the ban will take effect today, Friday 20th March until further notice from the government.

The total number of confirmed cases of the COVID 19 virus confirmed by Dr. Osagie Ehanire, the minister of health, has surged up to 12 people.

There has not been any recorded death cases from the locally transmitted cases but one death case has been recorded from an imported case.

The government has advised the residents not to panic and they should take the appropriate precautions to minimize the probability of contacting the virus.
