The Initiative Against Human Rights Abuse and Torture has accused the Kaduna state government of attempting to intimidate and harass the former Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission Professor Chidi Odinkalu.
The Executive Director of the initiative Maxwell Opara spoke to newsmen in Abuja, saying the state government is acting in contempt of the nation’s legal system by taking a case already being heard in a state high court to a magistrate court in a bid to get a forced indictment against Professor Odinkalu.
Mr Opara says the Governor, Nasir El-Rufai is attempting to use executive powers to influence the ongoing proceedings in court, a situation which is unacceptable.
