Miami residents have insisted on celebrating the spring break in clubs, bars and beaches against warning from the government to avoid large crowds. They say they refuse to let the COVID 19 outbreak stop their celebration.
Many people partying on Miami beach were questioned by reporters, one youth said that he doesn’t believe the COVID 19 virus is that serious and the government needs to focus on more pressing matters like world hunger and poverty.
A college student at the beach said that there was nothing else to do other than visiting the beach and the clubs and the government’s decision to close these areas down is blowing things out of proportion.
Another man named John Jordan who was visiting Miami beach from Tennessee with his whole family said that the COVID 19 virus panic is a Hoax. The United States has thousands of cases of influenza annually and it has killed more people than the COVID 19 virus would most likely ever kill, because it is a virus infection and will most likely infect everybody so he saw no reason to quarantine either himself or his family.
President Trump issued a statement regarding the large gathering in Miami, he said the young people are being irresponsible and they were taking chances with their lives. He said that the young people are feeling invincible and what they don’t realise is that they can be carrying the COVID 19 virus home to their families, their siblings, parents, grandparents.
Ron DeSantis, the Governor of Florida said that people should avoid gatherings in groups of more than ten but most people have ignored the warning. While young people are less susceptible to the virus they are not exempted.
Los Angeles residents, on the other hand, are being cautious with hundreds of confirmed cases of the COVID 19 virus. Many people have been stocking up on supplies from fear of an increase in cases of the virus in the states.
Footages have surfed the internet where Los Angeles residents queue at the grocery store at a reason distant to avoid coming in contact with potential carriers of the virus, they also enter the store turn by turn to prevent creating a crowd.
