Although other countries around the world and in Africa such as Uganda have implemented travel restrictions due to the coronavirus outbreak, the Nigerian government has announced that they would not limit any traveller from entering the country.
Mr Adeleke Olorunnimbe Mamora, the Minister of health, announced yesterday, Monday, 16th of March in Abuja while giving the update on the status of the COVID 19 virus in the country, that the Nigerian government still has no intention of restricting any traveller of any country from entering the country.
Although there would be no restrictions, passengers arriving into the country from China, Italy, Germany, Iran, South Korea, Japan, France, Spain, have been highlighted as high risks and would go through intensive screening at the airport before they can leave and mix with the masses, therefore limiting the risk of the virus spreading.
China has about 81,077 confirmed cases of the COVID 19 according to the WHO, Italy with about 24,747 confirmed cases, Germany with about 4,838 confirmed cases, Iran with 14,991, South Korea with 8,236 confirmed cases, Japan with 814 confirmed cases, France 5,380 confirmed cases and Spain with 7,753 confirmed cases.
