A man identified as Matt Colvin living in Tennessee, United States who planned to sell his 17,700 bottles of sanitizers online but decided to donate everything he bought is currently facing investigation for price-gouging.
He donated two-thirds of the 17,700 bottles and anti-bacterial wipes to volunteers from the church to distribute to people across Tennessee for people in need. Officials from the Tennessee Attorney General’s Office have taken possession of the other third.
The officials reported that Colvin was holding on to an inordinate amount of sanitizers and wipes while the public searched for them fruitlessly. He reportedly sold 300 bottles on Amazon before the company removed his listing and warned other sellers against price gouging.
Colvin who after the news broke resulting in a ton of hate messages has shared that hoarding was never his intention and said as much in a statement
eBay and Amazon have both suspended him as a seller which was how he made a living, the storage unit he rented out kicked him out and he is now currently facing investigation.
