On Sunday, 15 March, six Nigerian soldiers who are members of the 151 Task Force battalion were killed by suspected members of the Nigerian jihadist terrorist group, Boko Haram. This was after the troops were ambushed in the Banki area, Borno State.
This area is 130km southeast of the state capital. The identities of the two privates, two sergeants and two lance corporals that died, however, remain undisclosed till the sad news is relayed to their family members by the army with respect to them.
An army officer in Borno State who wants to remain unidentified stated that the terrorist group came with advanced weapon unexpectedly. Sagir Musa the army spokesperson who is currently in London couldn’t confirm or provide any information on the sad event when asked.
The recent March 15 attack is the latest attack plunged on the Borno community by the terrorist group. Borno state which is home to about 4 million residents is a famous base for the terrorist group. With other states like Adamawa and Yobe.
According to the United Nations, this insurgency group claimed the lives of 30,000 people and also dislodge millions of people. The Nigerian troops, however, have been fighting tirelessly to wipe out the terrorist group. They have however been able to curb the activities of the jihadist terrorist group to the three Nothern-eastern states.
