Microsoft cancels Builder Developer Conference, channels it online

Microsoft, the multinational technology giant has cancelled its Builder Developer Conference because of the COVID 19 virus outbreak.

The Builder Developer Conference is one of the largest software and web conferences hosted annually by Microsoft.

The conference draws a large number of participants of about 6,000 people worldwide and was scheduled to begin on the 19th of May and end on the 21st of May in Seattle, Washington.

Microsoft issued a statement saying that the safety of the community is of top priority. Microsoft now plans to host the Build Developer Conference as a virtual event instead of an in-person event.

Washington, where the conference was scheduled to hold has the highest case of the coronavirus outbreak in the United states with about 460 confirmed cases and 31 recorded death cases.

Other technology companies have also cancelled similar conferences such as Google, Facebook and amazon because of the rapid spread of the virus.
