The wife of the 23rd and current Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau tested positive to the COVID-19 virus as confirmed by The Globe and Mail’s Marieke Walsh. According to reports, both the prime minister and his wife will remain in self-isolation for 14 days.

Yesterday night, Sophie Trudeau had suffered from mild-flu symptoms and also a low fever. This was after she returned from a speaking engagement in London.

Following these symptoms, she sorted for medical advice after which she tested positive for the virus and has since then been self-isolating.

The Canadian Prime Minister also has been staying home, self-isolating himself since his wife tested positive for the virus.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office, Justin Trudeau will continue to carry out his duties and even go ahead with his plans of addressing Canadians on Friday.

He also won’t be tested for the virus yet as he is in relatively good health and hasn’t shown any symptoms. As gathered, the representatives of the Prime Minister’s office were slow to reply to emails seeking comments on the situation from Insider.

As confirmed on 12, March, Canada has a total of 117 confirmed cases and a single death has been recorded so far. The pandemic disease spreading across borders has infected over 128,000 people worldwide.
