The Democratic Republic of Congo discharged the last Ebola virus patient in the country last week and there has not been any confirmed cases of the deadly virus so far. Although about 46 people who were in contact with the last patient are still in quarantine.

Still recovering from the effect of the Ebola virus, the Democratic Republic of Congo announced its first case of the COVID19 yesterday, Tuesday, 10th of March 2020.

According to the Health Minister, Eteni Longodo, the individual who tested positive for the COVID 19 is a Belgium citizen that has been in the country for several days and the individual has been put in quarantine in a hospital in Kinshasha, the country’s capital.

Eteni Longondo has asked the citizens not to panic because the virus was caught at the early stage and they had the situation under control and preventive measures were being put into place.

The virus has calculated a total number of about 115,000 confirmed cases and over 4,000 deaths have been recorded. The Democratic Republic of Congo is the 11th county on the continent to record a case of the COVID 19.
