Former CBN Governor and Emir, Sanusi Lamido proffers ways to stabilize the Naira

The now-deposed Emir of Kano has finally broken the ice concerning his shocking dethronement that occurred yesterday. The Emir was reportedly removed due to allegations of insubordination, one of the palpable grounds on which he could have been removed from office, the other being corruption.

Many have expressed shock and some relief over the new status of the now-deposed Emir. The former President of the Federation, Olusegun Obasanjo described the incident as bitter-sweet. Sweet in the sense that in the words of the former president, the Emir paid the price and bitter in that it was an undeserved treatment.

Sanusi Lamido, the one-time Central Bank of Nigeria’s Governor is quite popular for canvassing for the development and education of northern youths as they currently account for 80% of the close to 50% of Nigerians below the country’s poverty index.

He has also on some occasion expressed dissatisfaction with the myriad of problems plaguing the North including poverty, political thuggery, drug abuse and insurgency. He urged the Governor of Kaduna, Nasir El-Rufai at the time to impact the lives of the citizens positively.

The exact proof or act of insubordination of the now-deposed Emir was not explicitly spelt out however, The former Emir had on occasion criticized the priority of the administration at the detriment of the development of the youths.

Well, Sanusi had accepted his fate and urged the citizens to support the new Emir, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero who coincidentally replaces Sanusi just like his predecessor replaced Mohammed Sanusi 11. He was recently spotted in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory after the announcement of his banishment.

“As I always say, leadership has predetermined tenure, the days Allah destined are numbered. When the days come to an end one must leave. We have accepted whatever Allah decides. We have agreed. We appreciate (God). We are happy and we know it is what is best for us.”
