The flag carrier airline of Kenya was founded in 1977, 43 years ago after the cessation of East African Airways. The Airline famously referred to as Kenya Airways made its first appearance in the investigative series, Air Crash Investigation showing on the National Geographic Channel over its ill-starred 2007 Douala flight.

On a turbulent night in Douala, 5 May 2007, Kenya Airways flight KQA507 who took off from Abidjan heading to Nairobi crashed into a mangrove swamp a few minutes after take-off. This claimed the lives of 114 people flying with the airline.

On Friday, 6 March the ‘’Season 20 Episode 10: Stormy Cockpit’ aired that prompted a report from 10 years ago by Cameroon’s civil aviation authority which stated that the Boeing 737-800 crash was caused by pilot error.“

A brand new 737 falls from the sky over West Africa during a major storm, but investigators eventually discover weather had nothing to do with it,” The episode opened with this line. The Captain of the Flight KQA507 identified as Captain Francis Mbatia was unaware that the plan was swerving towards the right, which happens to be a dangerous situation.

When he noticed, however, it was too late to help and revive the situation. The plane had crashed following a case of spatial disorientation as the crew members lost control. According to the report, Francis Mbatia and Andrew Kiuru although piloting in the darkness at night didn’t have external visual references.
