Academic activities at the Ebonyi State University Abakaliki in South-East Nigeria have been suspended following the on going strike declared by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, in the institution.
The lectures are demanding for improved working conditions at the University among others.
The leadership of the Union said the on-going strike was to draw the attention of the university management to the poor working conditions of service at the institution.
The lecturers alleged that all efforts to dialogue with the university authorities over their plight have failed.
Meanwhile, the Ebonyi State Government in a statement in Abakaliki appealed to the lecturers to suspend the strike and go back to work for the interest of the state.
