The sack of the suspended National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Adams Oshiomhole, may be concluded early next week with the go ahead given by President Muhammadu Buhari for the National Executive Committee, NEC, meeting of the party scheduled for Tuesday.
A statement issued on Friday by the acting National Secretary, Victor Giadom, said the meeting will hold by 3 pm at the National Secretariat of the party in Abuja, the nation’s capital.
The party is expected to pick an acting National Chairman as mandated by the constitution which abhors a vacuum in party leadership.
Oshiomhole’s quest to return as National Chairman after the suspension by the FCT High Court may have been effectively checked as the party’s constitution which provides for a national convention once in two years, the last having been held in 2018.
The appointment of an Acting Chairman appears to be the leeway for congresses and convention of the party this year.
The grand conspiracy to sack Oshiomhole was given a bite with the interlocutory order of the FCT High Court which on Wednesday upheld his suspension from the party by his ward in Edo State where he is at loggerheads with the Governor, Godwin Obaseki.
Oshimhole’s attempt to get the decision reversed through another Federal High Court in Kano was rebuffed by the APC leaders.
