Red Devils vs Blues: Ighalo sets out to make FA Cup dream come true!

Odion Ighalo is a striker in good form as he bagged two goals last night in Manchester United’s round of 16 clashes against Derby County in the Emirates FA Cup. The match ended 0-3 as the Red Devils defeated The Rams at Pride Park. Jesse Lingard was lucky to be awarded the second goals as he deflected a Luke Shaw attempt on goal.

The 30-year-old Nigerian has now scored 3 goals in two starts for the club he supported since he was a child. None of the goals has come in the Premier League as he is yet to start a game since his arrival on the January transfer deadline day. However, he has made two substitute appearances and threatened to score.

His first goal for United came in their second leg Europa League round of 32 tie against Club Brugge at Old Trafford. He has shown great composure in front of goal and looked sharp anytime he gets to play. His movement off the ball has been commended as he looks more settled in the team.

The former Super Eagles striker has also established relationships with his teammates as it is evident on the field of play. Many feared that the former Watford striker would not be able to perform at the highest level but he has certainly kept critics quiet so far with his impressive performances.

At the end of the match, Manchester United boss, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hinted at a potential permanent deal to keep the shanghai Shenhua striker at the club. Ighalo is currently on a six-month loan deal which ends at the end of June and he is expected to return to China but that might not be the case due to the current outbreak of the Corona Virus in China.

Nigerians worldwide are delighted with the performances Ighalo has put in lately and many are hoping for a potential return to the Super Eagles squad. The Manchester United fans have also taken to him as they have created a song for him which was chanted during their victory last night. Will the praises of Ighalo be sung till the end of the season? Only time would tell.
