Boris Johnson canvasses for free trade with EU Post-Brexit; pushes for CETA

The United Kingdom has rejected the jurisdiction of the European courts in any trade deal concerning the European Union. Boris Johnson, the British Prime Minister has made it clear that he does not agree with the European Union rules and regulation and he has no intention of following them.

Boris says he is campaigning for global free trade. He says, “free trade is God’s diplomacy, the only certain way of uniting people in the bonds of peace. Since the more freely goods cross borders the less likely it is that troops would ever cross borders and since these notions were born here in this country it has been free trade that has done more than any other single economic idea to raise billions out of poverty and incredibility fast.

In 1990 there were 37% of the world’s population in absolute poverty that is now down to less than 10% and yet my friends I’m here to warn you today that this beneficial magic is fading, free trade is being choked and that is no fault of the people, that’s no fault of individual consumers.

I’m afraid it is the politicians who are failing to lead, the mercantilists are everywhere, the protectionists are gaining ground from Brussels to China to Washington, tariffs are being waved around like cudgels, even in debates on foreign policy where family they have no place and there is an ever-growing proliferation of non-tariffs barriers, and the resulting tensions are letting the air out of the tides of the world economy, world trade volumes are lagging behind, global growth, trade used to grow abruptly double global GDP.”

He carried on with the decline of global poverty which is starting to slow down because of these trade tariffs. He said the United Kingdom reached out to the commonwealth which now has the fastest-growing economies in the world. Then he talked about Africa and how many of the countries wanted to turn their nations into a free trade zone.

He said they will take their ideas forward in June where the UK will engage with Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, America. He then said that the UK would eventually want peaceful trade relations with their neighbouring nations in the European Union.

Johnson reassured the audience that the UK did not leave the EU to undermine European standards, the UK will not engage in any kind of dumping whether commercial or social or environmental.

Johnson disclosed that the United Kingdom wants something similar to CETA with the European Union. CETA (Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement) also popularly known as the Canada Europe Trade Agreement; a free trade agreement between Canada and the European Union. CETA removed all tariffs on industrial products traded between the European Union and Canada.
