Hon. Elisha Solomon, the Commissioner for Budget and Planning in Taraba State, has said that Governor Darius Ishaku will complete all the ongoing projects across the state through the 2020 budget signed into law last week.
Solomon disclosed this on Friday in Jalingo, the state’s capital, while briefing reporters on the approved 2020 budget estimate.
The budget tagged “Budget of Accelerated and Growth Development” is to also initiate and execute other projects that will have direct bearing on the life of the state citizenry.
The total budget signed into law and approved for implementation was 215,823,576,810.00.
The Commissioner said there was deliberate action in the budget that would provide basic necessary infrastructure that could serve as a catalyst to improve the socio-economic status of the people of the state and the nation at large.
Solomon lamented the poor performance of internally generated revenue in the state and called for a paradigm shift from dependence on external sources to internal sources.
“In this regard, there is a need for all hands to be on deck to explore the states abundant resources so as to actualize our dream of becoming the leading economy in the north east region.”
The board of internal revenue took the lead on the estimated budget , followed by Taraba state university, ministry of environment and post primary school management board while Civil Service Commission and Agency for Mass Education formed the lowest part of the budget.
