Leila Janah, CEO and founder of Samasource passes away at the tender age of 37 from epithelioid sarcoma, a rare type of cancer. She founded the following companies; Samasource, LXMI and Samaschool.
Samasource is a non-profit organization that delivers secure high-quality training data and is a trusted platform for expert, ethical data training. LXMI is an ultra-clean skincare company made with organic, pure and rare ingredients such as nilotica, which is a rare type of shea butter whose nut grows only at the river Nile.
The skincare products are packed with vitamins A and E for bright luminous skin. Samaschool is a non-profit organization based in San Francisco that train low-income earner to succeed as independent workers.
Leila Janah was born on the 9th of October 1982 in New York and passed away on the 24th of January 2020. Her main goal was to end global poverty by giving work to the poor and the people in need. She said giving them handouts is not going to improve their conditions so she gave them jobs which will enable them to sustain themselves.
Janah’s CEO seat at Samasource has been filled temporarily by Wendy Gonzalez, Janah’s friend and Chief Operating Officer at Samasource.
On the 12th of April 2019, Leila Janah announced she’d been diagnosed with cancer. Her tweet said “Some news: I’ve been diagnosed with epithelioid sarcoma. I plan to continue my core CEO/Chairman duties at Samasource + as the founder of LXMI official while undergoing treatment. Grateful to have top care + support. Taking a week off social – back soon 🙂
On the 26th of May 2019, she made another post regarding the progress of cancer the sweet said quick update from cancer land: three surgeries are done, but it regrew Next stop radiation.
Grateful to my doctors at Sloan_Kettering who told me about a new drug from EpizemeRx that could stop my cancer from spreading. Praying I get access soon.
She continued to remain positive about the improvement of her health until the end.
