lalong orders arrest of fulani leaders

The governor of Plateau state Simon Lalong has demanded the arrest of Fulani community leaders in Plateau state following the events of gunmen killings in various communities in the state such as Kwatas, Bokkos, Kulben and so on.

The tension has escalated around these communities and the total number of deaths has amounted to dozens of people. The people want their justice for the crimes committed against them. In a meeting with the security officers of the state, the governor of Plateau state Simon Lalong said that all participants involved in the attacks must be brought to justice immediately.

The governor addressed the commissioner of police and told him to make more forceful and intimidating efforts in order to bring the criminals behind these actions before the law. He also mentioned to the commissioner to arrest the community leaders and put them in a cell claiming that nobody is above the law and the corrupt ones among them must be wheedled out and face the justice for their crimes.

There is no clear evidence yet that the Fulani herdsmen are responsible for these attacks although many accusatory fingers are being pointed in their directions. It wasn’t only people who suffered physically in these attacks, buildings around the communities did not go unscathed, several houses, churches and mosques were razed.
