The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Ade has awarded renowned Fuji singer popularly known as Kwam 1 (K1 de Ultimate), Wasiu Ayinde Barrister, the title of Mayegun of Yorubaland.
The new title ‘Mayegun of Yorubaland’ given to him comes with so much responsibility which includes the unity of Yoruba land. Although considered for the post 11 years ago, he has only bestowed the title after being sent on a tutelage.
He was sent to learn more about life and its rudiment and prepare himself for the role and responsibility ahead. Wasiyu Ayinde, however, confirmed his readiness for the Chieftaincy title.

He sent me to learn about more rudiments of life. I am better off today. I stand before everybody today and assure you of my readiness to play my roles diligently
During the course of the celebration, the Alaafin of Oyo was heard stating that monarchs shouldn’t drink openly as this is a huge stain on such person and it will only translate to a reduction in the level of respect for such person and that the new Mayegun, Wasiu Ayinde won’t prostrate to such monarch who engages in the disgraceful act in public.
He stated that he didn’t say this to tell people to disrespect monarch but he is admonishing monarchs to respect the culture and themselves.
The president and vice were duly represented at the event.
