Sanna Marin, Finland’s new 34-year-old Prime Minister sworn in last December is currently agitating for a condensed working week which will be a six-hour per day, 4 days per week work routine.
The youngest ever female Prime Minister argues that people need to spend more time with their loved ones and family and embrace other aspects of life such as culture and as such this could be the next step for working life.
In furtherance of her goals, she has demanded a trial period to test the efficacy of the new working schedule.
According to a United Nations report, Finland ranked the top happiest country for the second time in a row, with most Nordic countries taking the lead with Denmark, Norway, Iceland and Switzerland following suit.
Finland is not the first country, however, to adopt the 6-hour-day work schedule, Sweden has long implemented the schedule and thus far, the employees have reported being happier, wealthier and more productive.
