Former goalkeeper Oliver Kahn will be presented as new Bayern Munich board member on January 7, the record Bundesliga champions said on Thursday.

Kahn formally started his job on January 1 and is to succeed Karl-Heinz Rummenigge as club chairman at the end of 2021.

Bayern said Kahn would visit the team and coach Hansi Flick during their January 4-10 winter break training camp in Qatar.

Kahn tweeted Wednesday that “there are great tasks ahead. I’m so happy to return to that club and the FC Bayern family. Pack ma’s (Let’s get this started).”

Bayern’s first league match after hibernation is on January 19 at Hertha Berlin who is coached by Juergen Klinsmann – who as Germany helmsman ended Kahn’s career as the first-choice keeper ahead of the 2006 home World Cup. Kahn ended his playing career in Munich in 2008.
