After Omoyele Sowore release was secured by the Attorney General of the Federation, the U.S Senator, Bob Menendez has expressed gratification for Omoyele Sowore’s release.
In addition, he also admonished that now that Sowore is out of custody, the Nigerian Government should ensure his continued safety and security, read his statement below:
“I’m gratified to hear of Mr Sowore’s release, and I expect the government of Nigeria to ensure his continued safety and security now that he is out of custody.
I am hopeful that moving forward we can rely on the Nigerian justice system for a transparent, credible legal process.
I plan to continue to closely watch further proceedings in Mr Sowore’s case”
In addition, his colleague, Mr Cory Booker disclosed that despite Sowore’s release being commendable it was highly unfortunate he couldn’t spend the holiday season with family.
Omoyele Sowore who was arrested on the 3rd of August for planning a series of protests tagged #RevolutionNow across several states has since been in custody until his recent successful release ordered by the AGF Abubakar Malami after receiving a letter addressed by the Senators.
