After the resignation of Dr Scott Gottlieb in April, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has been without a permanent commissioner. Stephan Hahn with 72 to 18 votes, emerged as the new Chairman of the Food and Drug Administration.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has long been put under severe pressure to ban flavoured e-cigarette and also to reduce teenage vaping. In September 2019, the President of the United State – Donald Trump talked about supporting the plan towards the eradication of the flavoured cigarette. However, ever since then, he hasn’t gone through or follow up with the plans.
The Chief Medical Executive Dr Stephen Han appeared twice recently in front of the Senator Committee on Health where he was asked several questions to see if he is in l support of the proposal by the Food and Drug Administration to ban flavoured e-cigarette.
Although Dr Hahn didn’t exactly say he was in support of the plan, he, however, stated when he was questioned by the democrat’s that through the use of best science he would make regulatory decisions.
Senator Richard J. Durbin who is famously known as a critic of tobacco and also the Democrat of Illinois said he hopes the new commissioner uses the power of the new office to eradicate flavoured e-cigarette and he also put out that he will give his own support to the cause.
Richard Durbin voiced his opinion about how the President is no longer working towards the plan of the eradication may make the industry prevail and cause Dr Hahn to be in a Compromised position.
