Hon. Elumelu suggests that after the High Court, the National Assembly in next in line for Invasion!

Following a popular story about the alleged invasion of the Federal High Court by the Department of State Services (DSS) to bundle the human rights activist and pro-democracy campaigner Omoyele Sowore and Olawale Bakare his co-defendant which stirred a great uproar on 6 December 2019.

Hon Elumelu stated the National Assembly may be the next in line to be invaded if the prior invasion is not put to a thorough check.

In what looks like a blatant disrespect to the separation of powers stated in the laws of Nigeria, Elumelu put out that offenders should be checked and punished so as to prevent this from extending to the National Assembly.

Since section 4,5, and 6 of the Nigerian constitution clearly allows separation of power, it’s then totally inappropriate for one arm of the government to try and overpower the other arm.

Hon Elumelu aired his displeasure about how the unlawful invasion of the Federal High Court made the Presiding Judge flee for safety and abandon the duty post. This is a desecration of the temple of Justice. Also, assaulting Omoleye Sowore is a complete disrespect to the Judicial arm of government.

The result of the investigation is to be brought back to the house within two weeks. However, the DSS debunked that they were the ones responsible for the invasion of the Federal High Court by Peter Afunaya the spokesman of the Department of State Services (DSS).
