Former Governor of Abia State and sitting Senator has been sentenced to 12 years imprisonment by the federal high court in Lagos after being found guilty on 39 count charges filed against him by the EFCC.
Uzor Kalu alongside his firm, Slok Nigeria, and the former Abia State Director of Finance, Ude Udeogu, convicted to serve 10 years, were all convicted for a 7.65 Billion fraud committed whilst he served as Governor between 1999 and 2007.
As a result, Uzor Kalu has forfeited all his assets to the federal government. In addition, Uzor Kalu was also charged with receiving the sum of ₦460 million as part of proceeds from looting the Abia State Government treasury between July and December of 2002.
As he was being taken into custody, he was heard telling the prison warders not to put him in handcuffs as he would comply with the directives.
The company, Slok Limited, has been ordered to be shut by the Judge, Idris Mohammed.
