Defence Minister debunks claims Military is recruiting Ex-Boko Haram Fighters

The Military Defence Headquarters has in a statement debunked the news circulating online platforms that former Boko Haram fighters have been absorbed into the Nigerian Military, specifically as shown on Roots TV where a certain Balhatu Musa Ezekiel stated that Boko Haram fighters were recycled into the army.

The Brigadier General, Acting Director Defence General in the person of Onyema Nwachukwu took the opportunity to explain that the rehabilitation, de-radicalization and reintegration program is a move by the Federal Government tagged Operation Safe Corridor as a non-kinetic operation and furthermore is targeted at low-risk combatants.

250 of the repentant insurgents who willingly succumbed to the federal troops have been de-radicalized, rehabilitated and reintegrated into society. Nwachukwu has also affirmed that it is an internationally accepted practice as well.
