President Museveni while speaking at the CCTV National Command and Control Centre in Kampala disclosed that Ugandans are considered his family and won’t think twice before laying down his life for them and as such, any attack against a Ugandan is considered an attack on his own child.
His statements which were very explicit generated mixed reactions as the audience was not quite sure whether the sitting president was referring to internal or external threats. Read his comments below
“If you have love for the fatherland, it means all Ugandans are our family members. If you have got this in your head, you will not neglect your duties because you know that any attack any Ugandans is like attacking your child, sister and brother,”
“Some people don’t have that feeling. They feel that family members are those from the same woman. But to me, all Ugandans, all Africans are my family; that is why I will cause you a lot of problems. If you are near me and you kill, mistreat or rape an African woman, who is my Muzukulu (grandchild), ofudde (you are dead). I can’t spare you,
The President, well known for defending other Africans from oppression disclosed that he joined the freedom fighters in 1968 to Mozambique even though he wasn’t a Mozambican because Africans were being oppressed and he couldn’t sit still.
He also sent troops to the Democratic Republic of Congo, and helped Kagame capture power in Rwanda after the 1994 genocide. The Ugandan President in very clear terms issued out a clear warning as described below, therefore, all those who currently harbour intents to attack the eastern African Nation need to beware or get ready for a tough front.
“Yet security is my area, my constituency. That is my battleground. If you want to challenge Uganda, you should look for another constituency. We are going to defeat these criminals. This is just the beginning,”
