The Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland, Gani Adams, has urged the media to use the correct appellation to address him.

In a statement issued yesterday, the Generalissimo of all Warriors in Yorubaland noted the correct appellation for him as Iba Gani Adams, not Chief Gani Adams.

The statement signed by his Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Aderemi, read in part: “I write this private letter to correct the misconception and incorrect appellation being employed by some sections of the media to describe Iba Gani Abiodun Ige Adams, the current occupant of the stool of the Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland”.

While a Yoruba king is referred to as Oba and the wife is known as Ayaba or Olori, he noted that “the Aare Onakakanfo is designated and referred to as Iba, while the wife is called Ayinba.”
