Sowore sues SSS over violation of human rights, movement others for 500 million

Omoyele Sowore has sued the State Security Services to the tune of 500 million Naira for refusing to grant him bail after a judge at the Federal High Court of Abuja signed a release order for him on the 6th of November.

The former presidential candidate was arrested after planning a nationwide protest tagged revolution now and is currently being tried for treason among other offences. He was recently granted bail but several attempts to secure his release have been boycotted by the security operatives.

A protest was even embarked on by his comrades which ended up being violent, a situation the DSS have reportedly claimed is not correct.

Sowore has now in his suit titled FHC/ABJ /C51409/2019 has requested that due to the violation of his human rights based on Section 35 of the constitution and Federal Republic of Nigeria and Article 6 of the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights, the sum of 500 million should be paid to him for aggravated damages and violation of his right to life, dignity of himself, fair hearing, freedom of association and freedom of movement.
