A 73-year-old Miami Professor, Bruce Bragley, a supposed expert on drug trafficking and was a co-editor to the book “Drug-Trafficking, Organized Crime, and Violence in the Americas Today” has been charged with laundering over $250,000 of proceeds from corrupt practices from Venezuela.
He also allegedly contributed to the success of illegal activities against the Venezuelan people according to William F. Sweeney Jr, the FBI Assistant Director-in-Charge.
Suspicions were raised when Bagley opened a bank account riding on his defunct Florida corporation and took in 14 payments between a one year period from Swiss and UAE accounts
He appeared in a Federal Court in Miami on Monday and was eventually released on a $300,000 bond cosigned by his children. The arrest came as a big surprise enough that his lawyer claims that he is confident his client will be vindicated at the end of the day.
The Professor has detailed the approaches towards fighting the vices as “whac-a-mole” in the past and now faces two counts of money laundering and possibly 20 years in prison.
