There is heavy security presence across Bayelsa state as residents of the state filed out to the various polling units to participate in the governorship election.

Armed soldiers with their Armoured Personnel Carriers APCs are stationed in and around strategic points in the state including interstate boundaries.

Biseni community is largely flooded, a development which forced officials to relocate some PUs to dey land.

In Toru-Orua in Sagbama council area, where Gov. Seriake Dickson hails from, the effect of River Forcados can be felt as it has overflown. Many PUs relocated to dry land. As at 10 am, the governor had not voted in his Toru-Orua unit 5 Sagbama Ward.

Governor Seriake requested that the voting in Nembe be cancelled due to killings and violence on members of other party members by the APC.

Voting commenced at about 8 am and is ongoing in the famous town of Odi in Kolokuma/Opokuma LGA.

Boat carrying some journalists reportedly capsizes but they were all rescued.

Local journalists here in Yenegoa say entire ballots cast in a ward in Yenizue- gene was thrown into a nearby river by thugs, they shot to disperse voters, snatched the boxes and emptied them into the river.
