The Senate has tasked the Federal Road Safety Corps to live up to its billing and ensure drivers of Petroleum Laden trucks are not under the influence of alcohol or any dangerous substance.
This follows the tragedy that occurred in Onitsha Anambra state where the popular Onitsha Market was razed by fire following an accident by a tanker laden with petrol.
The motion was sponsored by Senator Ifeanyi Ubah co-sponsored by Senators Stella Uduah and Uche Ekwunife all from Anambra state.
The President of the Senate Ahmad Lawan expressed his displeasure at the inability of the Federal Fire service to respond swiftly to the situation but urged state governments to support its fire departments.
