The Minister of State for Science and Technology, Barrister Mohammed Abdullahi, has called on the elders of Nasarawa State to encourage their children to focus more on science courses like Mathematics, Biology, Physics, and Chemistry to ensure meaningful contribution of the state to national development.
The Minister made the call when the APC stakeholders of Nasarawa Local Government payed him a courtesy call in his office on Thursday in Abuja.
Barrister Abdullahi said his advocacy for science education was not in any way underrating the humanities but to bridge the knowledge gaps with regards to science and technology education in the state.
He further restated that the Ministry is working through his various agencies to ensure that substantial number of Nigerians is lifted out of poverty in line with the commitment of President.
In his words: “We support this initiative by creating programmes that will add value in terms of life, jobs, security and welfare generally.”
However, he said, ‘’This is not something we will achieve on a platter of gold, everybody must tighten his belt because the road ahead is going to be rough but there is going to be light at the end of the tunnel.’’
The Minister also called on the stakeholders to give full support to the Governor of Nasarawa State, Engineer Abdullahi Sule in his efforts to develop the state.
Barrister Abdullahi equally recalled the massive support he received from the people of Nasarawa when he contested for different positions in the state, stressing that the bond, friendship, should continue, adding that he will be there to protect their interest.
He later thanked the APC stakeholders for their visit and urged them to continue with such both at local, state and National level.
Earlier, the Welfare Secretary of the APC Local Government Stakeholders, Isaiah Koki Azah, thanked the Minister for his warm reception and assured him of their support.
