A policeman is reported to have died in the fire incident which happened on Tuesday, the 6th of November.
The policeman was said to have been trying to control the teeming and anxious crowd when a part of the burning six-storey building fell on him. The building is located on 43 Martins Street, Lagos Island.
The incident happened at about 8.30 pm while the firefighters were trying to put out the fire. He died later in the hospital after suffering severe injuries. Mr Olanrewaju Elegushi, the aide to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Lagos Central Business District confirmed the incident.
He also commended the firefighters and rescue workers on their prompt action in attending to the fire.
