Femi Falana calls ‘Positive Identification Operation’ Unconstitutional, Null and Void

Activist and SAN Femi Falana have called for the immediate withdrawal of the Positive Identification Operation expected to commence today despite the statement released by the House of Representatives for it to be suspended.

The operation positive identification is a move proposed by the current administration requiring all citizens to move around with some form of proof of identification to distinguish citizens from foreigners and also help to combat kidnapping, bandits and armed robbers and other such similar undertones in the society.

The seasoned legal practitioner has quoted that indeed the move is an infringement on the rights of the average citizen according to Section and should be stopped which was filed on October 25th. The human rights lawyer is not the only one to feel this way but members of the House of Representatives and was moved by Ndudi Elumelu citing that the operation is not within the proposed mandate of the military.

On the other hand, the Chief of Army Staff, Major General Buratai has disclosed that the operation will in no way hinder the day to day operations of Nigerian Citizens and as such, there is no cause for alarm.
