It is not everyday one gets the rare opportunity to have a tete a tete with a renowned Professor and the first Nobel Prize in Literature from all of Africa, however, one of our’s Ekene Ezeji was granted the rare privilege to discuss, debunk and gain new insights into the workings of the mind of Prof. Wole Soyinka.

Wole Soyinka, by all means, has his own perception to life on many things, many of those may not be popular but are valid all the same and worth careful consideration, listening to him speak only reinforced the validation of why he was selected as one of the Nobel Laureate winners in 1986.

Professor Akinwande Oluwole Babatunde Soyinka

In this trilogy set of which this is first, Wole Soyinka addresses all the misconception that has trailed him on print and online media concerning his stance on the secessionist group Biafra, the root cause problem why it is indeed not unique to Nigeria and what can likely be done to put an end to it. In line with this, he also gave a very good insight into why it is not our tribe or culture that divides Nigeria as preconceived but something else that we have failed to address.

There’s more as Wole Soyinka shares what inspired him as a child, the role his upbringing and Christianity had to play or not in his formative years and how Nigeria has evolved over the years from what it ought to be and the impact of the failed education system of our youths.

The university graduates of these days are at a commensurate educational level as high school leavers in those days… he opined. He further claimed he is also of the opinion that the former generation owes this an apology. Find out why in this interview.

Watch this interview to find out what Soyinka considers to be the most foolish of human endeavour and why protests should not be mistaken for rascality and why this generation is unable to effectively pass their messages across.

In the coming series of this interview, you will be getting a bird’s eye view of what the Professor thinks of Omoyele’s travails in his quest for a ‘revolution’ and definitely more.
