A teenager was shot yesterday by a Hong Kong Police officer yesterday after a series of violent protests and political crisis in the state. The protesters planned to disrupt the huge military parade to celebrate 70 years of communist control in the capital by staging their own protest march.

Unfortunately, an 18-year old high school student was shot in his left shoulder and since taken to the hospital for treatment. A spokesperson of the Hong Kong Police force reports that the shot was only fired at violent ‘rioters’ who threatened the officers lives in a bid to save his colleagues’ life.

The shot teen was initially caught on camera kicking and beating a riot officer with metal pipes. The protests in Hong Kong have been consistent for an estimated 115 days and doesn’t seem to be waning. The entire region was transformed into a battleground as protesters and riot police crashed in as many as nine districts in what can now be seen as a direct opposition to the current administration.
