A few days ago, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo via his twitter handle disclosed that he would waive his immunity to allow for the highest adjudication of a claim levelled against him to be attained by the Legal System.
The publication published by the Vanguard Newspaper has now been taken down and a public apology tendered to the person of the Vice President. Timi Frank has accused the Vice President of misappropriating ₦90 billion from FIRS towards the recently concluded elections and challenged the Vice President to sue him which from the Twitter disclosure, he has done.
Many have argued that actually, Yemi Osinbajo is not able to waive his immunity constitutionally except he steps down from the office of the Vice President. Moreso, the implication of stripping himself of the immunity as quite huge.
On the flip side many have said that the intention of the Vice President is in the right and at this time as it shows the level of priority the Vice President, he has been lauded by the former NBA Vice President for taking the most Civil Approach.
While others are of the opinion that there should be considerations for public officers to clear their names in such circumstances and this recent feat by the Vice President has raised the bar for public officials.
Timi Frank, on the other hand, claims to have incriminating evidence against the Vice President and in his words, can’t wait to meet him in court!
