WAEC Registrar, Dr Iyi Uwadiae has announced that by months end, he would be retiring from the West African Examinations Council. He disclosed this at the International Office in Agidingbi, Ikeja during a teleconference call from Ghana.

Dr Uwadiae, NCE graduate of the University of Lagos and B.Ed graduate of the University of Benin has served as the Registrar of the examination body for 7 years inclusive of a 2-year extension as the 12th registrar of the parastatal. His successor is yet to be unnamed. Read his statement in part below

“I anticipate that you will be anxious to know who is going to succeed me. I am glad to inform you that my successor has been appointed. I will, however, want to appeal to you to grant me the indulgence of not unveiling the personality at this forum. As you are quite aware, the Council has an official process of doing so soon, after assumption of office. There will be a press release or conference to that effect,”

He mentioned processes put in place to curb examination malpractices such as the print-in facilities, the use of software and gadgets to check examination malpractices, identifications and others.
