Embattled former Presidential Candidate, Omoyele Sowore is currently facing new charges including money laundering and seven counts of treasonable felony.

Recall that Human Rights Activist Femi Falana had initially disclosed that he hoped Sowore would not be charged to court otherwise the same people who had him arrested would testify for his release.

Not only that several human rights groups have collectively called for the release of Omoyele Sowore, the convener of the #RevolutionNow protest which did not materialize due to his detention.

This time around, he is charged alongside Olawale Bakare, popularly referred to as Mandate. These new charges were filed on the penultimate day for his existing detention to expire which held him in Police Custody for 45 days and was due to elapse on the 21st of September.

The details of the charges are as follows:

“A revolution campaign on September 5, 2019 aimed at removing the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria”.

The prosecution also accused them of committing the actual offence of reasonable felony in breach of section, 4(1)(c) of the Criminal Code Act, by using the platform of Coalition for Revolution, in August 2019 in Abuja, Lagos and other parts of Nigeria, to stage the #RevolutionNow protest allegedly aimed at removing the President.
