The Department of State Services, DSS, in Kano State has arrested a kidnap kingpin believed to have masterminded the recent attack on the Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, Emmanuel Akagbe. The attack led to the death of three police officers and one civilian.

The suspect, Mohammed Akazakwai, was arrested in his mother’s residence in Kano, where he was being treated for gunshot injuries.

A source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, disclosed that the suspect was arrested with his mother and an unidentified man.

About 50 AK 47 rifles, which the suspect claimed he inherited from his father, were recovered during a search of the premises where he was arrested.

Recall that suspected armed robbers recently attacked the convoy of the Nasarawa deputy governor, killing three policemen and a civilian.

Akagbe was on his way to Abuja on an official engagement when the convoy ran into the gunmen, who were operating a few meters away from Akwanga.
