The Peoples Redemption Party, PRP, in Kaduna State on Thursday, rejected the ruling of the State and National Assembly Tribunal which dismissed the petition of its candidate, Shehu Sanni, challenging the outcome of the February 2019 elections in Kaduna Central which was won by Senator Uba Sani.
The party also said it would appeal the judgement of the tribunal, which it described as a mere “judicial coronation of fraud.”
The Tribunal chaired by Justice A. H. Suleiman, had on Wednesday, ruled in favour of Uba Sani, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress. It dismissed the petition filed by Sani for lacking in merit.
But the Chairman of the PRP in the state, Alhaji Abdulrahaman Dannirni, said the ruling would not stand as the party “shall without doubt, appeal this ruling without delay.”
Danbirni in a statement on Thursday in Kaduna, said the two-hour ruling represents nothing but a rape of justice and the crowning and glorification of electoral robbery.
He said, “The tribunal failed to grant our (PRP) request for a recount of the votes. “The defendant APC candidate never presented even a single witness to the court to justify his victory.
“The lawyer that represented INEC is Governor El-rufai’s personal Attoney. The tribunal didn’t inform the legal counsel for our candidate, Senator Shehu Sani, of the date of the ruling,” he added.
Meanwhile, supporters of Uba Sani on Thursday, embarked on jubilation at the senator’s campaign office on Kachia Road, in the state capital.
His spokesperson, Mallam Sule Mahmoud, said, “The tribunal has finally judged that Senator Uba Sani won the election and we are very happy about it.”
