On the 11th of August 2019, the management of Korean entertainers BTS, Big Hit Entertainment announced through their twitter page that the stars would be taking time off to relax and live normal adult lives.
This came as a big shock to the fans of the K-pop band popularly known as BTS Army. Many quickly expressed relief saying that the break was one that is very much needed as the boys just recently concluded a world tour -BTS World Tour Love Yourself: Speak Yourself- amidst several activities.
In 2017 the septet broke into the international music market and ever since they have won several music awards some of which include 4 billboard awards and an American award. In Korea, they have won several awards and sold millions of albums.
The seven-boy pop band has a huge social influence and have spoken at United Nations General Assembly becoming the youngest recipients to ever speak at such an event.
The break comes after releasing three Korean studio albums and three Japanese studio albums and several world tours. It is reported that this would be the pop bands first long break since their debut in 2013.
The group- which consists of Leader Kim Namjoon popularly known as RM, Jin, Jhope, Suga, Jimin, V and Jungkook- have inspired several of their fans to look inward, reflect and love their selves.
Their songs focus on mental health, generational disparity, anxieties of youths and tell stories that the younger generation can relate to. This is just one of the many reasons they are greatly loved by their fans all over the globe.
They have been listed as one of the most influential people on Time, Bloomberg and Forbes Korea. Their impact and influence span across so many fields beyond their music and they have revitalized the Korean economic industry. We wish the international superstars a healthy rest.
