The Hong Kong Protests running into over two months now doesn’t seem to be stopping anytime soon as earlier today, the Hong Kong Police have set up an anti-riot water cannon which has never been used to deter and demonstrate how they have toughened their approach towards the protesters.

The prolonged and increasingly violent protest can be described as one of China’s most serious crisis in decades. There have also been reports of tear-gassing at subway stations and shooting of pepper balls at close range.

More recently, flights at the Hong Kong airports have been cancelled as the protesters mark their fourth sit-in protests at the international airport.

The protesters, however, appear relentless as according to one of the protesters, the police is challenging the bottom line of the Hong Kong people with their weapons. Currently, an estimated 600 people have been arrested since the protest began over two months ago.

The water cannons are not to be toyed with as Mankei Tam explained in a statement, read below

“Water cannons are not a toy for the Hong Kong police to deploy as a sign of strength,” Man-Kei Tam, the group’s Hong Kong director, said in a statement.

“These are powerful weapons that are inherently indiscriminate and have the potential of causing serious injury and even death.”
