Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State has expressed satisfaction about the manner, people of Mai-Iyali Village in Koko/Besse Local Government and Villages of Bagudo have been showing kindness to protected species of animals in including elephants.
A statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Abubakar Mu’azuDakingari says Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudumade this known while interacting with people of Mai-Iyali Village this Saturday.
The governor assured the people of the area that the state government would continue to promote their wellbeing and cater for their welfare including provision of agricultural input.
He expressed happiness with the communities, particularly farmers, whose farmland was being affected on daily basis by the elephants urging them to maintain protection of the animals.
Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu who visited to see the condition of the elephants for the third time, was in company of his children to a catch glimpse of the animals.
Briefing the governor on how they were coping with the elephants Mallam AbdulZakiMai-Iyali said the animals were feeding on daily basis on their crops, such as guinea-corn, millet and sorghum but friendly to farmers.
In his contribution, the village head MallamGarba Hakimi urged the state to provide access road, farmer’s inputs and social amenities to Mai-Iyali Village and surrounding areas.
He assured the governor of continuedprotection to the elephants by providing conducive environment for their longevity.
