World Bank disburses ₦477.8m to 42 Katsina communities

The World Bank has disbursed 477.8 million Naira to 42 communities and seven groups in Katsina State for projects under its supported Community and Social Development Projects.

The acting General Manager, CSDP Katsina State, Muhammad Abdulaziz, disclosed this on Friday at Randawa, Mani Local Government Area of the state, during the flag-off of Community Projects and Oando Foundation Partnership.

He said that the funds were disbursed from 2017 to date to the benefiting communities in six local government areas of the state, including Bakori, Danmusa, Kaita, Kankara, Mani and Rimi.

“N150.9 million was disbursed to further improve education sector, while the remaining N326.9 million was disbursed for execution of projects on health, electricity, water supply and access roads, among others.

“Therefore, going by estimate of impacting 3,500 persons per community, it could be said that about 150,000 poorest of the poor have been directly uplifted and hundreds of thousands indirectly impacted,” he said.

He revealed that the projects were Community Driven Development.

He also said that Oando Foundation partnered with the Community and Social Development Agency to enhance the living condition of the citizens and provide them with infrastructure.

Gov. Aminu Masari thanked the foundation for the support and initiative which, he said, were aimed at improving the standard of education.

Masari, represented by the state Head of Civil Service, Alhaji Idris Tune, urged the benefiting communities to maintain the projects executed in their domain.
