Manchester City star, Leroy Sane has
Sane’s potential move to Bayern Munich has been one of the most drawn out transfers of the summer.
A return to Germany is now inching closer after Sky in Germany revealed personal terms have been agreed by the two parties after Sane decided a move to Bayern would be the best option following talks with club chiefs.
The winger is set to receive €18m (£16.5m) a year should he secure a return to his homeland.
Bayern want Sane to fill the void left by Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery who both ended their careers in Bavaria this summer.
The sizeable stumbling block though is Manchester City’s £135m asking price.
That is a huge hike on the £37m it took to sign him from Schalke three years ago.
The Premier League champions still believe they can retain Sane’s services and want him to extend his contract which currently has two years remaining.
Sane has remain tight-lipped throughout the summer amid suggestions he wants to leave the Etihad.
His standing under Pep Guardiola is up for debate with the Catalan known to both praise and criticise the 23-year-old.
In the title run in he opted to play Raheem Sterling and Bernardo Silva ahead of Sane leading to suggestions the German would be allowed to leave.
But Guardiola maintains, while contract talks have stalled, Sane has not told him of his desire to leave, but only wants players who are invested in the team’s success.
“What (sporting director) Txiki (Begiristain) sent me two or three weeks ago, it was quite close. Now it’s not,” Guardiola conceded.
“I want players who want to stay because it’s impossible for me as a manager to convince a player to do what we want to do when his head is away from here.”
“The player didn’t tell me anything about wanting to leave, so that is the only reality I have.
“If he knocks on the door and tells me he wants to leave then we are going to speak with the club.”
City have not added options in attack this summer which would leave them light should Sane decide he wants a move away.
