A precursor to Ben Enwonwu’s best work which was sold out for $1.6 million was recently discovered by a family in Texas.

The Davis family found the portrait of their predecessor

The portrait titled Christine is the most recent remarkable work of one of Africa’s most revered artists of the 20th Century Ben Enwonwu.

The portrait was of Christine Elizabeth Davis of West Indian descent who while residing in Lagos with her British husband became good friends with the exceptional artist.

Ben Enwonwu created a work of Christine when she was in her mid-thirties who held her pose for as long as needed. The work which took the Artist about a week to complete.

Not only was Ben Enwonwu a distinguished Artist, but he was also a well-known writer and Art Critic. He was most famous for his work Adetutu Ademiluyi titled “Tutu” a very delectable portrait found in a London flat in 2017 and was sold at 1.6 Million in 2018.
