Bobi Wine, Uganda’s pop star-turned-opposition leader, says he will challenge longtime President Yoweri Museveni in polls set for 2021.
The pop star whose real name is Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, says he is concerned about his safety after surviving what he believes was an attempt on his life last August when his driver was shot dead in his car following an incident in which the protesters threw stones at the president’s convoy.
He was later detained and charged with treason, He denies the charges.
In an interview with The Associated Press on Monday, he said he is fearful because “there has never been a threat to this regime like the threat the opposition pose to Uganda government today as a generation
