Members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, also known as Shiites taken to the streets to protest the incarceration of their leader, Sheik El-Zakzaky.
This time, the protests held in Lagos and Abuja simultaneously. In Maryland area of Lagos, Shiite members were seen in hundreds with banners displaying photos of El-Zakzaky and calling for his release.
Speaking on the situation, the House of Representatives has charged the Federal Government, to urgently engage with the situation so that an amicable resolution can be reached.
The Nigerian Senate, however, are beefing up security at the national assembly, while asking that the perpetrators of yesterday’s protest be arrested.
